The Center of Excellence established by ONR at CCM has advanced 3D modeling and optimization capabilities for liquid molding processes across multiple length scales. These tools enable the design of tooling and the manufacture of high-quality, large, and complex composite structures. Characterization methods were developed to measure resin rheology and 3D permeability, while real-time sensing systems for defect detection and cure monitoring were integrated with automated process control. Together, these technologies enhance process reliability and repeatability in composite manufacturing for defense and aerospace applications and have been widely disseminated across the composites industry.
