This DOE-supported program develops sustainable, high-performance reinforcements for large offshore wind blade spar caps using recycled TuFF short fibers and low-cost pultrusion processing. The approach achieves up to 80% reduction in embodied energy and 70% reduction in fiber material costs, while delivering structural performance suitable for large-scale deployment. The work demonstrates both technical feasibility and economic scalability of greener composite solutions for wind energy infrastructure.
