UD Center For Composite Materials is advancing next-generation composite manufacturing for defense applications, and Research Associate II, Zachary Krewson, plays a key role in this effort at the University of Delaware
Zachary holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware and supports DOW-funded research programs, focused on advancing scalable and high-performance composite manufacturing technologies. His work centers on the manufacturing of prepreg and composite blanks using TuFF material, with an emphasis on improving process reliability and manufacturability. He also contributes to the CAD modeling and prototyping of custom equipment, designing and refining machinery to enhance the prepreg fabrication process from concept to implementation.
For his outstanding performance within these areas, he received the 2025 Director’s Award for Excellence. Through the integration of materials processing, mechanical design, and hands-on prototyping, Zachary helps bridge the gap between composite material development and real-world manufacturing deployment.
